EXPERTISE

EXPERTISE

I am a leading expert in social susceptibility—the study of why, how and what social information motivates and modifies human behavior, psychology and health. I apply this knowledge across disciplines to effectively understand and positively influence the human experience through evidence-based instruction (as an anthropologist), application (as a consultant), inspiration (as a speaker) and innovation (as an activist).

INNOVATIVE RESEARCHER

I do not believe in reinventing the wheel. If you are not analyzing the last three decades worth of secondary research—you are doing research wrong! I can rapidly construct a literature review of relevant, but often hidden or obfuscated, academic research for any project or client I work with. The fact that this isn’t a common part of the research and decision making process for most businesses, is problematic. I train clients how to do this as well as work with academics to make their findings more understandable and applicable to real world decision-making.

SOCIAL INNOVATOR

Social capital and social influence are the most important currencies we can exchange. Yet, in 2014, we still have very few ways of recognizing, quantifying, and measuring them. Despite the tremendous cost invested in manipulating customer behavior, so few businesses actually invest in understanding it. And despite the fact that so many of our most painful experiences in life—failure, rejection, grief, and disapproval, etc.—stem from social relationships, so few of us take them seriously. If I offered to give away $10,000 or an ideal friend, most people would choose the money despite the fact that in all measurable ways the friend would go further toward making you happy, healthy and long-living. We know how much money we have in our bank accounts, isn’t it about time to pay attention to how much social capital (or debt) we’ve accrued?
